well ... when you can't read a schematic and/or you can't handle offboard wiring you're going to request a lot of variations on a theme.

After some days navigating the mixed blessings of Germanium PNPs (Fuzz Faces, Zonks of various stripes, and so on), this crystal lettuce silverface edition (details here) was quick to put together and worked first time.

Obviously its 072-based overdrive sounds very different from the Germ-based clipping my ears have got used to, but it sounds good if one doesn't over-crank it.
