this. it's the new baseline. even if/when tarrifs stop shipping prices will just be higher because they can be and they know people will just pay it.Prices will not come down again. Number only go up
Is that the case though? It seems like a lot of people here have stopped shopping at Tayda due to the high shipping prices and uncertainty of tariffs. If their shipping costs do go back down for them, will the extra revenue from inflated shipping prices really level out the lost business from a large chunk of regular customers not buying anymore?this. it's the new baseline. even if/when tarrifs stop shipping prices will just be higher because they can be and they know people will just pay it.
I'm not talking about tayda exclusivley. Carriers like dhl and UPS, fedex and all the other ones set the rates based on various factors. And just like the gas stations, when one raises prices, the others do. I haven't seen shipping prices go down once in the past 25-30 years that I've been shipping/buying things. If the cost to operate is higher for the carriers, they will also pass that burden on to the consumer. once people get used to the new prices thats the new baseline. The tariffs may go away but I doubt the shipping prices will drop drastically. Only those extra fees will stop.Is that the case though? This is a more general thing in our society too.Prices will not come down again.
damn 3 week lead time for tayda enclosures gonna be up to 4 weeks smhIt won't matter when the world's oil supply is all on fire in another week or two and China decides to go ahead and take Taiwan because rules and norms don't exist anymore and the west is trying to extinguish the flames from agent orange's pedo-disttraction to prevent a world wide recession that will only expidite the adoption of AI to replace human workers and drive the world into a crumbling depression. Rolling blackouts to keep the data centers humming will soon follow.
Sorry. Sh*t's depressing

As for tayda, they are just fine. Lots of people are still doing business there as usual, just us broke people have paused.
I think some of what I was trying to say was out of context and worded poorly. In the end I think I was just trying to say that prices usually don't go down, for one reason or another. I don't think tarrifs will be forever but I think that shipping rates will ultimately increase for some reason. Most actual shipping rates (no tariff included) that I’ve seen are still pretty much the same as before the tariff charges. The shipping rates don’t really have to “drop drastically” if the tariff is removed because they’re separate from the tariff charge. The added tariff and associated fees are what’s making the shipping so expensive. If *somehow* the de mimimis exemption is ever put back into place, then shipping costs shouldn’t fluctuate any more than they did before tariffs.
If they’re ever removed I don’t see shipping companies all of a sudden saying “let’s double our shipping rates now so it’ll equal out to the previous cost with the tariff.” That would be a terrible business move and make every customer feel like they’re being completely ripped off when they know the tariff is gone and that the two charges are separate from each other. Or even Tayda trying to keep their tariff shipping rates the same and pretend like they’re still paying DHL our fee. Really bad for business, and Tayda is most certainly feeling it. Not nearly enough to implode the company but enough for them to know that the extra tariff is costing them ALOT of money in lost business. How fast they ship tells you how busy they are and it’s only gotten quicker and quicker since this started. Most of these companies are sick of it the same way we are. They’re not profiting off any of the tariffs, it’s making things a little more complicated, and they’re losing business. Most just want to provide cheap shipping to increase orders and make as much money as possible on the product itself.
The real problem is if enough people keep paying these tariffs, then you could be right. The U.S. government will think we’re complacent, won’t ever bring the exemption back and just keep raking in the cash. And on the other hand….if we stop buying and don’t pay the tariff, they’ll say “it’s working” and keep it in place. lol. We’re kind of in a no-win situation.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
