don't get me wrong ... during the 90s I wanted very little to do with REM because it wasn't ... well ... literally all the other rock music surrounding it but in retrospect, it's hard to deny they were the masters of alt rock during alt rock's big decade.

Pure musicianship, has to be the Bad Seeds for me. Their 90s albums are all amazing. Most done at Abbey Road iirc. Murder Ballads is art front to back.

I went to high school in a small town in the 90’s. I played guitar lis
