Black Friday sales 2022

That's my strategy for now. It's slow at times, and even slower at other times, but at least it does load.

Before switching to the dedicated server AWS would just throttle us down to 0% CPU and kill the site completely during periods of heavy load.

I can't come up with a good enough PPCB/Ticketmaster pun. Mainly because PPCB isn't a predatory monopoly.

Yeah, every time I fool with caching or CDN it breaks one of the "live" features like the waitlist or wishlist.

Almost all of the pages have some form of dynamic content that don't appreciate being cached. :(

I hear ya, it's a PITA because you have to implement content-based routing (static -> CDN, dynamic -> compute/server) which makes life overly complex and will break something at some stage. Then your time is spent fixing IT instead of tracing boards and doing things you love. If it ever becomes a big enough problem, let me know and I can talk about something I actually know for once..

You could argue that a slow site during sales makes us rabid (more rabid?) and we end up buying more from FOMO.

I'll definitely shoot you a message the next time I'm feeling cocky and start making changes, which is bound to happen soon. The performance increase when running a cache is more than noticeable so eventually I'd love to get everything playing nicely together.

I'm planning to move the forum over to another host in the near future so I can add some secondary storage, now that the maximum attachment size has been increased I suspect we're going to need a bigger bucket before too much longer.

I almost grabbed one of those Behringer Super Fuzzes, but then remembered how my pile of keeper pedals does nothing but collect dust...

I didn't escape unscathed however, I ended up grabbing a couple other candidates for tracing instead... because of course I did. :ROFLMAO: o_O

I bought a Behringer Super Fuzz a year or two ago during a local sale, and I have barely used it. But it was cheap, so there's that, and it doesn't take up much space.

ProAudioStar is doing up to 50% off, I see some Squier Classic Vibes for $229 - $299.

@Robert any chance the octarock boards will be restocked before the sale ends?
I don't think so, I was hoping the new batch of stuff would make it in time but it doesn't look good.... the holiday isn't going to help.

I also still have to build another Octarock prototype since I shifted a couple things around and want to make sure everything still works as it should.

@Feral Feline you checked everywhere I was trying to remember to check and then some! Thank you!

Does tubes ands more / antique electric supply ever do BF stuff? I’ve had a low priority cart building for a month now and that’d be a decent excuse to finally pull the trigger
Not sure but the Tube Store did, IIRC.

Tube Depot and Amplified Parts probably did, I need to add those to the list of places to check.

Previously I was focused on collecting PCBs, I need to update my list for more parts suppliers.

Some places don't drop a BF sale until the Friday itself, so...

If anyone comes across sales please add to the list here!

Does anyone know if either Stompbox Parts or Love My Switches have done BF sales in the past? I need to order some jacks and foot switches among other things and am wondering whether or not it'd be better to wait a week.
I’m not sure if they have done them in the past. But stomp box parts has announced that they will not be having a Black Friday sale. there announcement can be found Here.
