Can't find MPF4393 for SOFTii Overdrive

Good afternoon - I'm working on procuring the components for a few projects including the SOFTii (Catalinbread SFT).

The only problem I came into so far is the MPF4393 transistor. Is there a replacement that would work for this circuit layout?

As of now, all the components I need I found on Mouser, SmallBear and PedalPCB.

Looked at PedalHacker too but that was also a dead end.

Saw PN4393 on Mouser but I read on previous posts it's not a identical transistor produced by a different manufacturer.

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

I used a mix of 2n5485 and KS4392’s in mine. Whatever you do buy a fair amount of what you need as they need to be tested for Vp around -2.0v and you won’t get that if you just buy 6 unless you’re incredibly lucky or buy them matched and tested. Check out all the JFET articles in Chucks Boneyard.

Good luck, it’s an incredible pedal! I got mine running the other day and I can’t stop playing it.

Thank you for the good tips. I'll make sure to buy more than I need and match values. I'll keep these two resistors in mind as potential swaps. I never noticed the Chucks Boneyard section .... what a discovery!!! I will get reading right after diner. Thank you for taking time to respond to my post.
