Capacitor size problem

Hello,
i'm building the promethium pedal, and i have a problem with the size of 1µF film capacitor. The size is 2.5mm thick on the pcb, and over 220 nF, the caps are thicker than 2.5mm.
The same problem occurs on octagon and arachnid multi effect. I saw PCB's here from the promethium, and it does not seem to be a problem...

So what kind of cap do you use in this case?

I use those in place of all the gigantic caps.
