Captain Bit - Is my Transformer Bad?

I have an issue with the Captain Bit where when you turn up the "Up" and "Base" Pots, there is a lot of static, so much that it's not audible what's being played. I've done some troubleshooting, and I think it might be the transformer. How would I be able to tell if it's bad?

Well...

A simple resistance test on the primary, then on the secondary. Check the datasheet, the transformer should be rated for a certain winding ratio. That should roughly correlate to your primary's resistance divided by your secondary's resistance.

It won't be exact, but it should be in the ballpark.
