Buttoned this one up yesterday afternoon, then spent like 45 minutes futzing with the trim pots to get them where I liked it.
Still not sure about the reverse mode setting.

When I was a kid we called envelope filters "Jerry Garcia boxes" heh, since he was the only guitar player I knew that used them as widely as he did.

This is definitely a foray out of my comfort zone of both sounds and builds, not sure if I'll use it much but so cool to have one!
I also got the Waddle Box board and will be interesting to see how different (or same) that one is.

Simple build, I think I spent more time fixing the goofed drill hole for the toggle switch than actually populating the board.
Not sure what I was thinking at the time but I punched the wrong hole, then drilled it, then when dry fitting everything started cursing in Chinese.
(And I don't even speak Chinese if that gives you an idea how torqued I was about it...... :ROFLMAO: )

Anyway, had to do some creating bending of the pot legs, then when I fired it up I had nada......turned out the pot legs were bent so far they were shorting out on a couple of solder tits. Had to come up with a makeshift insulator with a cut up pot cover and some hot glue. BUT it works now!

Been having a lot of fun channeling my inner "Jerry" with this thing.

So in love with my Seafioam Green tele, but for some reason in video it looks like it's Sonic Blue. Is that what you're seeing? (I can't be trusted....)

Also, so in love with my new VHT amp! Man, the clean tone just kills!

Killer demo! You make this sound so much better than me! Such a clean build! I wish I could’ve gave you better instruction on those settings 🤣🤣🤣

FYI, the build doc specifies what to adjust the trim pots to for the correct voltages.

Great build!
Those recommended voltages are the factory settings I believe. But when I set my voltages to those settings the pedal wasn’t doing as much filtering as when I did it by ear. Hence I wish I could’ve given him better advice! 🤣🤣

I didn't see that on the build docs even though @steviejr92 said it was there. I just fiddled by ear. But it's definitely sensitive to input levels.
In the demo you can see me rolling back the volume and I get more quack. Interesting.....

I just realized I could’ve given you better advice….I could’ve just opened up my pedal and measured the voltages…. 🫠

So I noticed the "non-reissue" version uses a vactrol instead of an OTA. Anyone build both? Is there enough difference to make it worth building?

I believe I read somewhere that the original version is a little different. Im curious myself to know if this is true and if it is just how different is it?

Well two completely different mechanisms between the OTA vs Vactrol to get the same effect. It doesn't have the "reverse" mode. Which is not a big deal to me since I don't care for the sound that much. Sigh......onto the wishlist it goes....hahah.

I'm looking at the Waddle board schematic I have (I think it's the DOD FX25) and it looks very similar to the CDXL.
(But I can fit it in a 1590B....... :ROFLMAO: )

I compared mine to the reissue and I thought that the reissue didn't do have as pronounced of an effect. I liked it better how I tweaked it by ear.

I think the vactrol for the original is difficult to find. I also built the Waddle Box and I think I liked it a little more than the reissue. I don't care for the reverse mode either.
