Clandestine Preamp - No Charge Pump

Quick question. I’m short one tc1044 charge pump for a build for a friend. I’ve got a clandestine which I know uses one, and have a spare 18v tap on my PSU.

Would there be any problem with pulling the charge pump from the clandestine and just plugging it in at 18v? I couldn’t remember if it steps the voltage up to 18v or if it goes higher up to 27 or something…

I think Clandestine runs at 22V (that 22V zener diode is there to hold the voltage at level), but it should run just fine at 18V (or even 9 but with less clean headroom).

Usually you bias the jfet at half the supply power (so 11V). You would probably get best results with biasing at 9V if you use 18V supply.
