EAE/Maestro Fuzztain

I really like the sound of EAE stuff and just stumbled on this schematic of a modernized Maestro Fuzztain by EAE in their schematics section:

And a layout from dirtboxlayouts:

Would love to have a pcb to build. Supposedly originally designed by Bob Moog and updated by EAE, that has me sold.

Was just replying that I thought you mentioned releasing a PCB for this.
Yup! it just takes me forever since I do a full analysis of every circuit along with all the usual build doc stuff. Pretty far into writing it, I discovered the compressor is close to the circuit used in the RD artist bass. So I'm trying to do some research about that. The fuzz itself is entirely unremarkable but the compressor is incredible.

I enjoy writing the educational stuff, and as an added bonus it also hopefully keeps the DIY wolves at bay 🙃
I just finished a Beholder and love it, will definitely buy this, thanks!
PS, I now have a full EAE time based effects chain: Sending>Beholder>Hypersleep. It rocks.
Thanks, that's awesome to hear. Not a lot of Hypersleeps out there!

Love long walking bass-lines through a Park,
Hope you have high headroom and can handle
high-voltage (must be 18 or over). Come on-board,
or floor me with your sweet signal squeezing.

Well, months later than I originally planned these are finally available. Our recent product launch consumed every waking moment for a while there, but I'm finally catching up.

In addition to the usual BOM/schematic/drill template, the build guide has a circuit analysis as well as some other useful info. Hope folks enjoy it.

Looks great, I got the newsletter email and ordered both of the new boards earlier this evening, should be nice additions to my horde. Thanks!

Hypersleep DIY is out of the question due to impossible to source parts, I suspect?

They sell for 700-800,- so that's a no-go.

Oh!

Must try this with one of the Meris workstations. But, I am also gonna grab myself two Beholders next week anyway.
I use the Hypersleep as an always on preamp at the end of my chain with a tiny bit of modulated reverb, then add a little more reverb with the spring tank on my amp. It's perfect for me and I'd never get rid of it unless I could DIY one, but I also wouldn't pay $800. I could probably dial in almost the same sound on the Sending v2, but the preamps have a slightly different character to me, or maybe it's just that I've only ever tried them stacked with the HS last.
