I dont mean to say anything bad about this builder, I have a good amount of respect for his work, but I thought that one was quite… interesting 😅

The argument between steel and aluminum chassis has been raging for as long as I can remember over on the tube amp forums. Used to be hotly debated 15 years ago or so on Audio Asylum (along with low DCR everything and silver litz wire). 🙄

Granted, steeler is a better conductor than aluminum; but a Faraday is a Faraday cage. Once its potential is set, it works at effectively blocking RF and other electrical emissions.

Aluminum knobs sound so much better than plastic knobs. They’re part of the ground plane, and so are you when you touch them! Truly amazing sound and feel difference!
I prefer the use of plastic knobs with brass inserts to isolate the free flow of electrons, and keep them from interfering with the light waves of the led indicator. This serves to provide more actuation when the drimble is at maximum squirk

I think the important takeaway here is not only does the material matter, but their pedals happen to be fabricated using the optimal material and design... because of course they are.

Howard Gee was the one of the Main Designers behind the original Catalinbread Pedals.
He is also a Wicked guitarist that demoed a lot of their Gear.
Lets hope he is still building Great pedals without all the shenanigans to sell a product!

Oh yeah I really like his style and his work. I get the feeling that he's honest and actually believes the enclosure material makes a difference.
