FYI-Tayda matte vs gloss clear coat

I haven’t seen any build reports for either the matte or gloss clear coats. Here is a nice comparison I wished I had done matte gloss finish on the matte pedal, but it does look good. However, I prefer the gloss finish.

The matte finish is on the left and gloss on the right.

So, looking at the picture again, it doesn’t do justice. I will try to describe….

The matte finish looks like smeared, grey hummus or cement. The gloss looks more natural, like an enclosure, but with a subtle sheen.

I know, the hummus description is odd (because who has grey hummus), but that is what I see with it….

The UV printed gloss is on the art, not the face of the enclosure.

Gloss Pedal = Matte Gloss
Matte Pedal = Gloss Gloss

I found that gloss on gloss washes out a bit. Matte Gloss on Gloss enclosure makes things pop a bit more, however counterintuitive that might sound.

I still have yet to have an enclosure design with a matte clear layer that I like. I always gave ended up regretting it. I think 9 times out of 10 if you want ‘matte’ you should just not do any clear coat layer

I like matte over an all black design. Not sure I would do over colors. May have to try some day.

This one is matte clear (way before the gloss clear was made available). Definitely get what you mean about it being cement-like (the hummus analogy had me cracking up), but I personally like that a lot.

I really like the clear matt finish. I had a UV print done on a clear matt finish and ordered just the printing to have gloss on it and the lettering really pops.

I get what you are saying about the enclosure itself. The matte one looks cloudy.
