Village Idiot
Good News Everyone!

As you know, some of these darned doodads we use are hard to track down. Today there might be plenty of X but no Y. Tomorrow, Ys out the Y-zoo but no Xs to be found, and for some that might be a blessing .

I've got a bundle of some of these capricious components and want YOU to have it! Why? Because I said so!

Here's the catch, yup...you suspected as much. There are a bunch of you and only one prize.

Submit a jingle, poem, haiku, song, tagline, or nursery rhyme describing why you enjoy pedal-building by 11:59pm Apr 1..or better known as April Fig's Day. Don't worry, it's no hoax....just a coincidence.

Whomever's post receives the most reactions will win;

1 - Spin FV-1
1 - CH341a
1 - MN3005
1 - MN3207
1 - MN3102
1 - NOS 1983 LM308
4 - 2N5952 (matched set)

Groovy prize? I think so.

Thanks for reading. Have fun!

At the start it was all in good fun
with a pedal whose artwork was none
and white washer for switch
It satisfied an itch
For another tubescreamer finespun

Then along came the pedal snobs
who mocked the bad solder jobs
and made fun of gorva's
fancy enclosures
and not labeling your knobs

Now the fun is good and clean
and my pedals are nice and lean
With tidy wiring
and artwork aspiring
the next tubescreamer is keen

I've now far exceeded my goal
Of making my collection whole
If not for the craft
I'd be getting more daft
Sitting around and tugging my pole

I work like a north pole elf
And almost all will sit on my shelf
When I play the low tide
It fills me with pride
When I'm prolly just full of myself

My aesthetic can be described
As a monkey who's over imbibed
"It's supposed to look crazy"
"Or am I just lazy?"
As I grab a paint pen and scribe

What I really want is to bend
The shit out of my sweet low end
Without breaking the bank
Find a fuzz that's dank
WITHOUT the use of clean blend

Sometimes when I feel god sent
And my ego could use a dent
I furrow my brow
Add think about how
"You're just some dick in a basement"

Sorry to Shakespeare!

Shall I compare thee to a PCB?
Thou art more funny and more talkative.
Cold joints forsake the part integrity,
And solder's grip can go a-walkative.
Sometime too hot the iron of heaven burns,
And often is his lead complexion dimmed;
And every joint from join adjourns,
Some wire, or small component lead, untrimmed:
But thy eternal output shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that tone thou ow'st,
Nor batteries brag thou wand'rest in their shade,
When powering fades to volts their lowest.
So long as men can play, or ears can hear,
So long lives tone, and tone gives life to thee.

The pedal builders desire-
The way I turn you on, the way you feel in my hand. Your warmth, hot to the touch, your burning desire. Your scent is intoxicating, the way you melt all you touch. You are the fire that bonds all. There is no resistance, just raw electricity. The voltage runs through us, from my output to your input as I toggle your switches. You bias my transistors and we make beautiful wailing feedback. I clean the tip lay you to bed. Our beautiful child, a pedal for the world to share. My passion, my love, my obsession.
Was that about me or the pedal? 😘

A Sonnet in Praise of Expression(ness)

Pure clarity and tight low end
Is what I crave, and why I blend
A cap from here, a diode there
Resistance spreading everywhere.
I pray that my tone vocal sounds
Organic mess of love abounds
But twang rules here, a twang supreme
And why my bass so clear may seem.
Obsessed am I, obsessed may be
But sound to me is poetry
God's clarion, or cupid's moan
I aim to capture all that tone.
Coarse roughness, such hilarity
But deep, deep down needs clarity.
