I built @jjjimi84 a guitar a few months ago. When we discussed the neck, he sent me a warmoth strat neck to copy the specs of. The warmoth neck was his favorite thickness and radius. He didn't gel with the all gloss finish however and it sat before he sent it to me to copy.
After Goldie we talked more and an idea for a new guitar sprouted. Dan's always looking to do different things, and active pickups are one of them. In my experience, on board EQs work, REALLY well with EMGs. So a box of all eq does the tone shaping and overall volume work. I reduced the pot value for theblevel from b50k to b10k. I used my Serena shape for the body.
I designed the Serena in 2013 by merging the body of a telecaster and a PRS Custom and averaging the lines. The intent was to make a PRS style telecaster. In my opinion, it still looks better than the NF 52 they came out with.
Schaller hardware is top notch. I also fabricated a B bender bracket out of a 125B.
The body itself is alder with a carved maple top. The maple ain't too Purdy so I elected to mask off the edges and spray the body night mist blue which changes color to dark blue to purple to red.
For the neck, I altered the headstock. I also refinished it to a satin finish so it doesn't gum up like gloss.
Enjoy!
