Kewpie Fuzz (Bare Enclosure Warning)

Hands down the best muff I’ve ever built, played or heard. Blown the fuck away.

Somehow solves everything I don’t like about some variants while keeping everything I like about those variants.

I’m working on enclosure art (
https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/whats-on-the-drawing-board-🎨🖌️.15589/post-252766) but wanted to play around with one to get better toggle labels, so this one’s just in a bare box for now.

Can’t overstate how great this thing is. If you love Muffs, if you hate Muffs, if you know how to use a soldering iron, make this. No conversation about Muffs that doesn’t mention this from here on out is worth listening to. It’s magic in a box.

Enough rambling here’s shots, I’m gonna go play it all night and be late for work tomorrow.

I really like your custom boards on this. I feel like with the screw terminal and the extra grounds at the switch it would make it easy to run shielded ins and outs also.

Right?! RIGHT?! I'd buy one if I hadn't already bought one. :ROFLMAO:

If you hadn’t already posted a layout draft in the wishlist thread by the time I saw it I would have bought the original instantly. I still probably will. It’s just mind boggling how good it is. And the URA switch is like a fucking atom bomb !!!

One of these days I’ll actually not be lazy and actually do this, which was half the reason I made those boards in the first place

That's an absolutely beautiful enclosure......MichaelW APPROVED!!!! :p

Any luck on that biker-sailor-tradtattoo graphic?

I'm super excited about this Muff, but ... I've got a restraining order and have to wait until I can order... which I think is out of order.

No luck yet!! I’ve spent maybe a half hour at least every day for a few weeks at the shop and still can’t find any that I like, and I’ve maybe only even found 4 total. There’s tons online but I didn’t think it’d be so hard to find one considering we have hundreds of tattoo books at the shop

Nice!! I’d love to know where you got those screw terminals- the ones I have are pretty bulky… thx!

I order 2.54mm pitch screw terminals from a few places.

- On AliExpress, the Locheuk Connector store has free shipping over $18, which can end up being the cheapest option depending on how many I'm buying: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800681269043.html
- Tayda sells 2 and 3 position 2.54mm screw terminals: https://www.taydaelectronics.com/co...-screw-terminal-block-2-positions-2-54mm.html https://www.taydaelectronics.com/co...-screw-terminal-block-3-positions-2-54mm.html
- LCSC has a huge selection of 2.54mm screw terminals, but sometimes the added shipping costs for an order from there make Locheuk the cheaper option. On this page, https://www.lcsc.com/products/Screw-terminal_11140.html, under "Package" select "P=2.54mm" and "Plugin=2.54mm" to filter correctly
- There is an absurdly expensive 2, 3 and 4 pin assortment on Amazon, which I have ordered before just to finish a build faster https://www.amazon.com/Molence-Terminal-Connector-Terminals-26-18AWG/dp/B09F6TC7RP

@finebyfine Thank you! From the photo, it looked like yours were less bulky than the ones I've used (the stupidly expensive Molence pack), but looks like they may all be the same, essentially. Honestly, I still really like them. I'm just starting out, and used them on a Fig Buster Vero build- made life a little easier while I navigate the Do's and Don'ts of building. I appreciate the list of sources since I'm certainly NOT getting that Amazon pack again! Ha...

Actually, looking at your pic again - I'm specifically wondering about the long one connected to the stomp switch PCB - that looks VERY helpful, and a bit different than the others mentioned above. It may very well be the camera angle, and I assume it's one of the longer strips Ali Express sells. Definitely looking into that. Thanks again!

@Ginsly no problem! I use them for exactly the same reason you described - and even though I've built plenty of pedals I still find them to be super useful for making debugging easier, or just to scrounge footswitches and jacks from a pedal I don't use often, etc. I use them on every single build!

The 8 pin that I used on my footswitch boards is either from the Locheuk store or from LCSC. There are also a few vendors on AliExpress that sell bulk quantities that it might have been from, but regardless the only difference I've ever seen from vendors has been the shade of green that they are. Also for what it's worth, I've never had trouble jamming 2 and 3 pin versions together if I was missing a larger one, but it's not the cleanest looking thing in the world as they're not made to be spliced together like some of the larger pitched ones.

Ah, ok good to know! I call them bulky only in comparison to sockets, which are slimmer but less rugged. It's reassuring to know that someone else uses these - as long as the connection is secure, they REALLY help with certain steps. I kinda like the way they look, too! Just posted about a couple early builds (Executive and Vero Fig Buster) and I used the terminals in one of them.

Back to YOUR pedal- looks hot! What is going on with those jacks?? Are those jack PCBs? I love it!
