Parentheses Fuzz with real vintage germanium diodes..?

Hi I have a question. I'm gonna build the Parentheses Fuzz. So I have to find some Germanium diodes (4 in total). I can of course buy some new (NOS) ones. But I also see some real vintage diodes on Ebay. I'm kinda curious to buy some. Is it potentially giving me a more "vintage" tone? Or is it not worth the extra buck and should I just buy some new ones. I'm kinda intrigued by it. But not sure if it's a stupid idea haha.. Any models I should look for?
Thanks for the help.

The problem with buying 2 diodes to use in the octave section (D1-2) is that they need to be matched for voltage forward. I wouldn’t buy any less than 10. I also don’t use germanium diodes in this build because I get fantastic results with 1n5817s or any other diode really. The clipping section diodes you can safely buy 2 and be fine.

By the way, NOS means new old stock, i.e. old parts that haven’t yet been used. Unless someone has salvaged parts from a circuit, NOS and vintage are synonymous in this context.

aah damn. i always thought they we're new diodes according to the old specs.. Thanks..

Thanks. I'm sure other diodes will do the job for sure. I'm just curious.. And also not looking for very conventional fuzz. I'm not even a guitar player. Using my pedals as outboard FX. The more analog/gritty/unpredictable the better :-) I guess I'll just install some sockets and experiment.

Good idea to buy a few more to match (or mismatch 😋).
