Pedals and pedals and pedals.

This is what happens when you don’t read.

So I ordered the Nobles board and then ordered the Protien board not realizing one side is the Nobles. I’m sure it’s their tweak on it but still. I should have ordered a morning glory board instead. That half of the double barrel I did from effects layout is outstanding. Would love to have it on its own. Hoping it’s as good on the proteins for that side.

Starting to think a pedal swap thread is needed. I have three boxes of pedals I hardly ever use that are just waiting for someone to enjoy them.

You obviously need to read the marketing copy for the Protein pedal, if you did then you'd know that there is magic fairy dust that happens when you put the two together in the same box.........you wouldn't want to miss out on that would you?:p:p

My unused pedals (about 60 at last count) are all on shelves. My wife frequently asks why I keep them around instead of selling them, but like, what if I need them?!?!?
I have one box of those, I pop them on the board every now and then. But the other two boxes I would be happy to gift/trade because they are either duplicates or just not in my wheelhouse for playing.

I was a huge believer in the unicorn dust for a long time. But my tin foil hat has worn off and I am starting two think the magic is more the play on tolerances between components than anything else. It’s like guitars, you can play six of the same model but one might jump out as something special. Why is it special, all the parts are the same. But something is different. Is it Magic or just the right combinations of tolerances. Same for pedals. Same for many things in life. But there’s still a small part of me that believes, it is the magical part of our mind that can make shit happen.

Please don't burst my bubble.....I'm still trying to build "that pedal" that will magically (in unicorn fashion) transform me into SRV/EricJohnson/RobbenFord/LarryCarlton. It's just that I don't have the right gear that I can't play like them........

This is my issue with drive pedals. There are very few original circuits. Everything is based on a handful of pedals and has a component change here and there. Build enough pedals and you have a pile of the same pedal. It happens with phasers alot and and to a lesser extent BBD circuits, but the biggest offender is OD/Distortion/fuzz. This is why I'm out of the Drive game.
Either that or you've built what you want and don't need anything else! You've found your unicorn.

For this reason it would be interesting to see some sort of family tree of overdrive pedals. Original circuit and then variations of each. You could encompass likely thousands of circuits with the blues breaker and big muff alone. But I guess that's where recognizing the schematic comes into play.

I've got to come clean, you guys-
There's been an overdrive or two that I've tried out mainly because the name of the circuit made me think of a graphic I like:

I’ve spent most of the last 10 years building things that weren’t dirt pedals, and then the last year building all the dirt pedals.

DanOh - why don't you build the Protein as stock and use the Green PCB to build a Protein-Green-with-bass-pot pedal? Aion tells you how to add a bass pot, and it's very useful with this particular circuit.
