Populating some builds have j201 question

I'm in the middle of populating about a dozen build... Currently doing Abider Overdrive and realized I don't have Q1 J201 or Q2 in any of my stuff ive ordered lately.... Ive seen a lot of buzz about j201 being crap or fake or very low tolerances... what should i be looking for or measuring once i get a handleful of them? should i source some of the adapter boards and just find one smd mounted?

AionFX has J201's on prepopulated adaptor boards. You can also get mmbfj201 and adapter boards from Tayda as well. I've had luck with both but recently found that the AionFX J201's I had didn't work so well in one of the circuits I was building. The ones from Tayda worked just fine though. Seems that the specs for J201's can vary a bit. They're cheap enough that you could order a batch from a couple different sources and test them to see which ones might work the best.
 
If you're in Europe:

Musikding.de also stocks the SMD J201s mounted on the tiny boards (but of course they're out now :)

Polish store amptone.pl has the through hole J201s but I don't know if they're legit. About 2 Euros each.
 
it is said that from mid-2022 the shortge chip will begin to fade and disappear by 2025 🤦‍♂️
