PRS Tele

Honestly I love PRS, and the back story. I just think let sleeping dogs lie. And even the 3K price is in line with what Fender wants for a mid priced tele let alone one that looks like it was dragged behind a car down a gravel road for 9 miles. I just saw an add for a James Tyler tele for like 7K. Ouch.

I love my PRS, an SE Mira in black. I'm not a fan of lurid woods and finishes, but I far prefer that to relicking which is the most pretentious bullshit of all time.

Not a fan of the PRS Strat and even less a fan of the PRS Tele, though. It seems to me that when a company abandons their core product to copy their competitors, they're heading for a fall.

That is one of the ugliest guitars I've ever seen haha

Everything is horrible: the random body and pickguard shapes, the tiny slant in the pickup, the two saddle bridge, the pickup selector between the knobs, the pale neck and drab green, the headstock with the fanned out strings, fanned out just enough to give tuning issues and look like a measurement error.

Pass me the puke bucket :)

Honestly. Anything which isn't the damn original Fender design is just trash.

In fact, if it's already been made into a guitar then it's damn fugly. And if it the tree has already been cut down, just a crappy take on the original.
I only play living trees, honduran mahogany.
Some go so far as to say that the only real guitars are seeds, but I think there has to be a little evolution in the design.

It definitely has a “designed by committee” vibe. Like @SillyOctpuss I am verrrry intrigued by the pickup situation there.

I should come clean though. When I was starting out with guitar, all I wanted was a Strat. I got one, but then I saw a PRS at a small pro shop in a small town in Texas and I was blown away. The inlays, the body, the finish (it was subtle believe it or not). Just a gorgeous guitar and a good player to boot. Fast forward to many years later. I had the coin to drop on a “real” guitar. I considered a PRS but pulled a 180 and bought a Martin HD28 😂.

Still have a Strat and a Tele. No PRS tho.

This newest one from PRS is such a head scratcher. Boring and ugly. Sheesh.

I like PRS, I own a SC-58, it is the stripped 58. No binding on the neck, not a gawdy top, just a les paul style guitar that plays in tune. I think some of the things they have come up with over the years have been really good ideas.

This is not one of them.

I get why PRS gets so much hate, they make flamboyant guitars with ridiculous inlays but the one they do make? Guitars that play really well, something I have not experienced from a certain mass produced guitar manufacturer.....

It's Gibson.

Kind of mixed feelings here. Part of me likes it a bit… part of me thinks it’s awfully ugly and not particularly Tele-like in many ways.

Ultimately my gut feeling is that if the (actual) Telecaster never existed to compare against I’d probably like it okay. But given that the telecaster already does exist… I don’t think it compares super well.

I’m sure it plays great of course, and probably sounds good too, but aesthetically it misses the mark for me. And that headstock is a very poor fit imo

Nice. The stripped 58s are really great guitars. Any chance of some pics?

For me I love a 22 fret, maple top, double cut prs with dots/moons, preferably in a solid colour or with a more subtle flame.

They should marry the two concepts. Attractive guitars that are.... actually nice? Pribson.

Yes and a neat story. My wife said for my Thirtieth B-Day she was going to buy me a Les Paul because I had been looking for one for years. Well somethings happened and that did not transpire, fast forward to the next year and right around our birthday (we have the same birthday) a giant box shows up and my wife asks "oh what did you get me for my birthday?"

I responded with "a beautiful Les Paul!" she was not as excited as I was. Found it in a place in Pennsylvania, it lived its life on a hanger and was never played. Two grand out the door with shipping and case, I am still very happy with it. It has my favorite humbucker pickup the 57/08.

Fantatsic. I love 57/08s I've had a few sets now and wish I'd kept some.

That's beautiful man!!
Love 594s!

They are not cheap but they sound really great, this is the first LP that I can honestly say does the tele on steroids thing.

I get that same thing with the Montys PAFs that I have. It's a pretty cool sound and makes total sense once you hear it.

I had my last set in my prs ce22 but the neck pickup cover got damaged in a stupid accident and it annoyed me everytime I looked at it. I didn't want to change the covers because they were an early engraved set so I sold them discounted to account for the dent in the neck pickup.
