Question about animato distortion pot

On the animato, my distortion dual pot act as a volume. I mean that if I turn it fully CCW, I will have no sound.
Based on the schematic, it is normal right since it goes straight to ground without any resistor ?

Here is what the docs says, so I guess it's right.

Sustain controls the amount of drive or distortion, which also affects the amount of sustain. This is a
dual potentiometer that simultaneously controls the volume of the Rangemaster stage and the first
Big Muff boost stage.

If you want to still have some sound when the dual-gang's at zero, then you'd need some resistance between each gangs' leg 1;
I think it'd be fun to experiment with having only one gang having a resistor between leg 1 and ground, BUT..

Which one? What value? How would each sound?
