First time with the young one at a local lake, where dogs are allowed. With sorta private and free running spots. Fun swimming lessons with our little ratty poodle.

The area is owned by a large zinc factory and while they got cadmium stored underground in one part, they turned another in a wildlife area (crossing certain fences at your own risk, cause there's boars and bovines there.)

Meeting up with a friend, and because I don't fancy driving my mobile oven (AC broken) in the desert, it's the train.

No idea what the black part is.

I've directly in front is one of the commuter train lines, ones in background are freight/whatever bnsf conglomerate rail does…

Installing some in-ground planters in the back yard, which has several ant colonies. Our front yard is one giant ant-hill (as is all our neighbours' yards and ... well, the whole damn city). So the lawn out front is dead. The sod we're pulling up to make way for the planters is being transplanted out front and the sodding-sorry-excuse for clumps-of-grass out front is being turfed. Doing all this between hailing downpours in the blistering heat, working our asses off like a couple of relentless ants...

So, the human-Queen of our abode found the little auntie Queen ant ( see picture above — note, too, the small worker tangled in the grass next to her ) from one of the colonies in the back where the planters are going. I was tempted to feed her to the ants out front, warring colonies and all that. However, I erred on the side of caution that Little Queenie not get the chance to start yet another colony should she survive instigating a competing Alien Ant Invasion; So...

OFF WITH HER HEAD!

Or you better prepare yourselves for Adam and his cohorts...
