Hadn't ever played with one of these, but topologically it sits somewhere between an opamp Muff Fuzz and a Cream Puff- two of my all time faves, so figured I'd whip one up and see if I liked it
And, I do!
It's nothing extraordinary, but it does sound damned good. Neither muddy or piercing, it brings the dirt.
I did increase the coupling caps between the two gain stages and at the output because it was a tad anemic stock. I went with 220n for these caps. Added a 10k resistor between pin of the Gain pot and ground, so that it doesn't bottom out. I also increased the feedback resistor of the second stage to 4.7M for a bit more hair.
This was a fun, quick little build and I'd recommend it for others that dig the simpler dirtboxes
