So I have an idea....

I've been toying around with this pedal site idea for a while. I'm not sure if anyone would be interesting in doing this or not (would love to collaborate if there is interest) but, a site - or profile feature on a pcb site - where you could log your component "collection and have it cross check against a database of build sheets (could be just ppcb or could include others). Then, in your profile it would tell you like you can 100% build this pedal or like 50% build this one. I guess kind of in the vein of pc builder in a way i guess. IDK just an idea i have and would love to see become reality. I would love to discuss this further with anyone with interest. Hopefully i described this clearly as I am not the best at doing that lol. I posted about this before in a pedal building group on fb and the admins took it as a for hire post and flagged it. Frustrating but whatever. Let me know what you think.

Damn I try to track parts coming in and getting used and I still flounder. The only problem with this is garbage in = garbage out but once you got it set up it would only be a matter of adding stuff as you restocked. Did I mention I'm lazy

I would have loved this when I was building vero a lot, I never knew what I had the stock to build so I'd just order more parts and now I have way too much stuff, but still never the right pot value. This reminds me I need to inventory my stuff.... someday...

You can get close with a spreadsheet. I’ve done that before. But maintenance is a bit of a pain and I never updated my stock so it went out of sync really fast. I can share a template for what I used back then.

There's part inventory manager software tools available, trying to remember the name of the one I used. But I'm unfortunately not organized enough or motivated to note every single part I pull out of the bins, so it got out of date fast and I stopped keeping up with it. Excellent idea in theory, just takes a lot of dedication by the user.

I made a spreadsheet that can get you some of the way there. You can make a copy and edit. It's pretty crude and probably a bit fragile, but it may be helpful if your inventory is not crazy huge. I didn't spend a ton of time on it and there's probably improvements that can be made. An actual software or web app designed for this would probably be much less error prone.

Thank you for the spreadsheet!

Turns out mine is very similar but it has more categories and colors. No inventory function, I have to update the quantities by hand, which is not a big deal right now.

If any saucy details about me are accessible through the file please let me know.

I guess I missed this whilst on holiday.

This is one of the use cases I’m trying to satisfy in creating my pedal repository. The challenge right now is data entry of builds into a component list. Luckily there are some AI/ML tools available where I work which can help out, I just need to get some time to implement them.

That, and some front end to make it pretty, but I’m all about the back-end..
