Tayda enclosures: new metallic powdercoat finishes

My softii winked silver enclosure came today. Great alternative to the infamous ball silver. Feels reminiscent of a raw enclosure - in a good way. Smooth to the touch. It catches more light than I could capture in this photo but it is still pleasantly subtle for a silver glitter finish.

If I order one again I’ll bolden up smaller type or skip the gloss coat - it really fights with the shimmer for focus. The only part that shows that well in the photo is the text under the LED hole (‘active’).

Ah that was on the tip of my tongue - it’s exactly that finish

I meant the design as well.

It's excellent, looks like a retail pedal. Nothing too flashy or overdone.

You can get good photo results with a white backdrop and some soft lighting as well, the box isn't really mandatory.
In fact I always felt the box got in my way and/or caused glares in unwanted places. If you know what you're looking for you can almost always see reflections of the box in any glossy objects being photographed. Once you see it it's hard to unsee. :ROFLMAO:

There was no box involved with this photo.

These two, on the other hand, were taken using a light box. (not my photos)

You can, of course, keep at it and find the right angles, but for me taking the box out of the equation was the key.

I should add though, that while I did not use a box, I did have a stationary setup with a retractable infinity curve backdrop, fixed lighting and tripod so any time I needed a pic I could just drop the pedal on a marked spot and shoot. I'm no photographer (although my dad was) so once I had a formula that worked I didn't want any deviation.

Thank you for your compliments on the design :) What was your light setup if you don’t mind me asking? Your photo is like textbook perfect pedal pic as far as I’m concerned

It was a crude setup but it did great. The frame was made of PVC pipe / fittings with clamps to hold the backdrop. (Look up white vinyl photo backgrounds on eBay).

I think I used three clamp reflector lights with diffusers over the front (looked like solid white hair nets).

I bounced the light off a couple reflectors made out of foam project board like you find in the craft section at Walmart.

The camera was just a basic point and shoot Nikon Coolpix on a tripod connected to the PC by USB.

Aside from the camera I probably had less than $50 in the whole thing.

I'm going to have to take some photos of some things in the near future, I'll snap some pics of the setup when I put it all back together.

Thanks! Yeah this new silver is quite nice for the clear vinyl sticker method. I figured the colors would end up darker. For reference, here's the book cover I snagged that from. Good ol Camus.

Existentialist and aburdist novelists seem to get the coolest covers for their books. The copy of Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler I had in 1981 had a Paul Klee print Red Ballon on the cover. Years later I saw the original at the Guggenheim opposite Central Park. I've been a huge Klee fan ever since.
