Tayda powercoat lead time

What's the average lead time for Tayda powdercoat looking like these days?

I'm putting in a parts order for prototypes and would like to grab a couple of the gold powdercoated 125B's, but if it's going to delay the shipment too badly I'll just go with raw aluminum for now.

Ok, I think I'll place two separate orders. 4 additional days is a lifetime when waiting on prototype parts. :ROFLMAO:

That way I can test the drill template as well.

Last Tayda order with a powder-coated undrilled 125B was placed on 10/2 and shipped on 10/4, the one before that was placed 9/25 and shipped 9/28.

Last Tayda order with a powder-coated pre-drilled 125B was placed on 9/9 and shipped on 9/15.

Based on my tiny subset of data, seems the pre-drilled 125Bs are the ones adding notably more time?

Having done industrial work, powder coating is just weighing out how much powder, counting boxes and running through an oven, and only 2 guys doing it is like 1.5~2days. CNC machining takes programming time, then you have cycle time, then double check the measurements, make adjustments.... then how many did you order again? gotta run the cycle time for each 1, the machine only moves so fast or destroys the cutters...

This is what I've started doing. Dedicated components orders and dedicated enclosure orders. Doesn't seem to impact the total cost of shipping very much.

I ordered last week and got my DHL package in less than 5 days and had around 7-8 enclosures in the order

If you're JUST powder coating, and NOT drilling, it might be only 1 day.
I followed the progress of my last order daily:

Order: Sept. 17
Drill job completed: Sept. 20
Paint job completed: Sept. 21
UV job completed: Sept. 27
Order approved: Sept. 27
Shipped: Sept. 27
Received: Sept. 29 (before noon.)

Alright, so, to avoid any delays I placed the orders separately.

The components shipped the same day, the enclosures shipped the following day.

The irony? According to tracking the enclosures are going to get here before the components.... because you know, of course they would. :ROFLMAO: 😭

… the enclosures shipped the following day.

This confirms my Sept. report. The paint guys have their game tight. I'm picturing them standing around with powder-coating guns telling the drill guys to hurry tf up.

So if that's typical—as of Sept. 2022—

  • Drilling is backed up 3 days
  • Painting takes 1 day
  • UV Printing takes 5 days
  • DHL Express takes only 2 days from Bankok to Indianapolis (!!!) 😲
Already tracking my October order if anyone cares. :)

Of course, I'm picturing “guys.”
It might just be Hugo running around doing everything himself. He seems to have a superhuman ability to respond to every customer service question himself.

I'm tracking my current order placed on 10/17/22 which contains 3 enclosures, 3 are uv printed, 2 are pedalpcb predrills and 1 custom drill. The metallic light gold has been drilled and powder coated for 2 days, the red hasn't been drilled and the matte light blue hasn't been drilled so it's taking a bit longer than it did last time I ordered in July when I ordered on the 23rd and it shipped the 26th.
