What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Shame the spiders vaporized and didn't get to make a fort like I intended. RIP the spiders in Nick's mailbox 🕸️🕷️🔥🥵☠️🙏⚰️🪦🥀😭💔
I need to think up some graphics for that PCB before I build it. I’ll have to memorialize the spiders in some way. Since they are vaporized spiders, and the PCB is from you, I’m thinking maybe…

A lesson learned showed up in my mailbox yesterday.

The entire time I have been building I kept thinking “ok this is the last one I don’t need a spool of solder, I just need a tiny bit more” 22!! Pocket sized tubes late to the party I finally ordered a spool. Won’t be running out of solder any time soon. And now I “have” to keep building more pedals… can’t let the spool goto waste.

I know I know, lead free isn’t the best, I’ve had perfect luck with this specific Kester blend so I’m sticking with it.

So, what are the specs on the on-board preamp and are they for purchase? Asking for a friend...who is me.

Everything is for sale on some level. ;)

I have all sorts of leftover builds and unstuffed boards in many formats, I'll PM you some options and we can see if any shoes might fit. I've been doing lots of surface mount stuff for the last few years but some are all through-hole and many are half and half, and I don't mind stuffing a few SMD parts if needed. I'm still at a stage where getting as much user feedback as possible is very useful, so with DIYers I'm generally happy to recoup actual parts cost or do barter deals.

The two red boards make up a new version of the one in this thread: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-passinwind-open-source-preamp.1259692/#post-19535550 . Not sure if and when I'll find the wherewithal to support it the same way I've done for the original for the last several years, but the new one is a lot slicker for those who can deal with soldering relatively large format SMDs.

Edit: here's a MusicMan 3 band clone board a friend on Talkbass posted as a board share at OSHpark: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/Evy8I8Zw . Looks like an easy build and there have been a few mods posted that should work fine with this layout.

Indonesia is apparently not that far away. Only 8 from purchase to mailbox. Good lookin' out on this project, @Bricksnbeatles.

Even comes with its own decal, kinda. I guess I get to use my own adhesive on the cardstock, or better yet just use it as a guide for my own design.

Yeah, I’m working on my own graphics too, but the decal is a cool backup plan if I still can’t think of anything

I might have to grab one of these just to see what's under that little covered module...

Any indication of what that is?

The BWE module you mean? It’s a preprogrammed ESP32-A1S, which is what their BS-core modules are based around— the module isn’t covered at all except for the sticker, which lets you know that it’s the vocoder version. The non-vocoder version of the module doesn’t have a sticker though, and they also sell the bare modules without the pcb. Scroll to the way bottom and you’ll see the ESP32-A1S in the BSCORE category

Mouser has a dev board for the chips too

Ahhh cool, I see. The metallic surface looked like a sticker over the top of the whole thing.

That's interesting.

And all I got are 4 large MXR style knobs in blue... they are also a correction from a screw up at smallbear, I received green the 1st time.. I'm losing excusses to not work on my 480 wiccunwanker project(90th anni model but only comes right handed and black...)
