What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

On a side note, it's cool that PedalPCB designed these PCBs for StewMac. I didn't realize that @Robert was doing their board layouts. I'd read somewhere that he designed the most recent boards for the Klein-u-lator (a solid-state Dumble-a-tor effects loop) and thought those looked totally awesome too!

*Edit: I said that PedalPCB "designed" these boards, but it appears that these boards may just be whitelabeled for StewMac because the layout looks identical to the existing Kliche board (https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/kliche/). Still cool, nonetheless.
Wait what. Did I miss something. I might have to order one now just out of respect.

My assumption is based purely on the layout being (from what I can tell) identical. I could be totally wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

I smell lawyers ahead and I hate lawyers.. even the 3pdt switch is identical labeling, only diff is red vs black solder mask! buuut, I think dropping like $35~40 for the PPCB path is better, can't be that hard to print off the ghost vs $125 before shipping....

And there's arrows to a modded version HERE by our resident rocket surgeon 😉 😁

I'm looking forward to building my 'Lectric Ladyparts" flanger! High hopes for the "PIC-inator"...

Just a typical day at the orifice:

Stuff.JPG

500 or so 0.1% SMD resistors, mostly in non standard values, 100 or so Wima and Kemet film caps, several C taper Alpha pots and some detented linear ones, a new dual opamp flavor to test, and then a small LMS hit for switches, knobs, etc. $250, we barely knew ye!

I was going to suggest Antarctica, but given how the entire human population is pretty much just researchers and scientists, they probably have the highest PIC needs per capita of all continents
A friend of mine has worked down there on and off for years as an emergency response dispatcher. She has stories...;)

Got this today…
It was listed as non functional on the modest mouse reverb store…
Took it apart and cleaned it real good and it works like new…

They even threw in a couple old backstage passes!!!

I have to say I look forward to my orders from Electronic Goldmine more than any other vendor. There's always some fun obscure stuff I wind up ordering from there!

I got some low profile 22uf electrolytic caps for some upcoming 1590A builds.
A whole tube of NOS "Vintage" 10k trim pot hahaha (anyone need some 10k trimmers?)
And a couple bags of assorted high end resistors. Vishay, Dale, etc. I'm gonna need to sort through them to see what's usable.

Oh and my "treasure" haul. Some Telefunken BC239C's.

These will be going into my Muffin build.

Also got a set of 5% 525k TAOT CTS pots for my LP Special re-wire. Haven't tested them yet to see if they're in spec. Waiting for some pickups now.

Which Pickups have you ordered?

Which Pickups have you ordered?
Heh, funny you should ask......

I think I mentioned in another thread that I ordered a Zhangbucker for the neck. The "Lollipop". Super low wind 6k. I was planning to only replace the neck pickup.

But the more I thought about it, the more I started second guessing myself. The 6k wind will actually work a lot better in my Gretsch to match the Filtertron in the bridge position. That guitar has issues with the balance between the P90 neck (usually 8k or 9k) and the 'Tron which is like 4.3k.
So I'm putting the "Lollipop" in the Gretsch. Also, the Zhang comes with 3 conductor wiring so I can match the phase with the Tron. (I've had issues with other pickups I've tried).

I ordered a set of Lollar P90's for the LP Special. 50's wind for the neck and Standard wind for the bridge. Exact same set that's in my P90 Tele.

I’ve wanted to try some new pickups in my Gretsch but I love those tv jones that are in it…
You think those you’re talking about would be an upgrade I know nothing about pickups.?.?

You can't get any more "authentic Filtertron" than TV Jones. They're more Gretsch than Gretsch:)

The pickups I'm talking about are P90's different animal completely and won't fit in your Gretsch. I'd leave the Gretsch alone.
Get a cheap Harley Benton with P90's and see if you like the sound.

A P90 is essentially a big fat single coil pickup. So you get all the noise and stuff from that (unless you get a hum cancelling type which I think changes the nature of the pickup and it no longer sounds as P90-ish as I would like).

For frame of reference. David Gilmour's first solo in "Another Brick in the Wall" is a clean but "pushed" P90 (57 Les Paul Goldtop I believe).
