I'd like to formally request a progress threadalready started the DIY SG bass vi spreadsheet not 24 hours after saying again I shouldn't even consider it
If SG’s are already neck-heavy…will the longer scale length be manageable?already started the DIY SG bass vi spreadsheet not 24 hours after saying again I shouldn't even consider it
The soldering iron is the easy part! How do I cart around all my parts?
No fear, I am sure someone will find me on the beach, iron in hand, tinning wires..
Cool guitar, even cooler car!The one I posted previously had no issues with neck dive. We even used the slipperiest seat belt strapnwe had to demonstrate it's balanceView attachment 37735
Oh dammit!!!I built a SHO for a friend a couple Gristmasses ago; sorted out what I needed ahead of time, packed it all up — however, I cheated a little as I'd previously bought a small soldering kit and left it at my Mom's knowing I'd have some projects with me to work on during future visits.
It was that holiday-build (working with a hand-held magnifying glass in a coffee can with pens/pencils for ballast and a small desklamp for feeble light), that I had everything lined up to solder, didn't dare breath for fear of moving the magnifying glass or some part and keeping my eye on the prize and with peripheral vision reached out and grabbed the soldering iron kinda like this:

Funnily enough, that didn't work so well. In fact, the SHO didn't either and I had to finish it later... much later, when bandages came off.

More deets on the T, please, looks like trans-tunnel fab is coming along nicely, notched out wheel-well looks like its going to ride low. Chopping top or keeping it Tall?
Oh, and what fenders are those on the left — Corvair?![]()
I've got the JM Baritone as well, but haven't been able to get it playing & sounding right. What string gauge do you use and where did you end up setting the pickup heights?30 inch scale; this is the way. I have a Squier Jazzmaster Baritone with a 30 inch scale, tuned A-A. For me that's a lot more usable than a Bass VI tuned an octave below standard. I'm looking at a local retailer that's coming out with a cheapo bari, but it will have a 27 inch scale, which would be good for B-B tuning.
I think it was that what got me going in the first place, but seems more like a year ago than a few months...I bought one a few months ago when @Bricksnbeatles posted his in this thread.

I've got a Strat baritone (B-B) that I absolutely love, and it plays amazing with pretty heavy strings and low action. I play mostly clean, so maybe that's why the Strat works and the JM struggles.

Which pickup combo's do you find the most useful in a Bari? I'm think about just building a Bari Tele, but not sure about pickups yet.....

Shortest scale length is 29.75 (the Dano) longest is the explorer thing at 30.3. most of em tuned to drop A. One at drop F1, and the Mustang at drop D1
I really love their 59 roundback profile. It's pretty close to a PRS Pattern regular.Warmoth is sick. Roasted maple with rosewood, 10-16, 59 roundback, 6150 stainless frets. It fits like a glove in my body so should be a nice build

I'd like to add - basically any single coil is amazing in a bari. Lipsticks, Tele bridge, and Jag pickups being my favorites. I've been on a huge Lace kick lately, so still recommend the Alumitones, but their Sensors are also rad and also noiselessWhich pickup combo's do you find the most useful in a Bari?
