What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Well, over priced as it was in the long run, I got my physical VFE Indiegogo reward today... a nice new set of boards for the Triplet.

At least I can tell myself it came with the Motherload at a cheaper than retail price. If I had only waited a day or so and gotten the Motherload, which is all I wanted really, for $1.

Stuff arriving early, go figure:

Little breakout boards far active bass push-pull switches, blank Jazz Bass plate for 5 hole plate mounted preamp, a couple of spools of 22AWG silicone wire, and some in 24AWG, which I've not yet tried.
I'm also working on a bass preamp planned for a 5-hole jazz plate (I'm 99% sure it's different than yours), where did you get the plate? My boards will be here soon, need to start getting parts together.

Heat gun for shrink wrap stuff. Better than using a lighter. I tried a quick test and it worked and didn't explode, so I'm happy. Or at least not unhappy about that particular thing. Also came with a heap of shrink tubing.

AliExpress link here. Took 8 days from China to my doorstep, which is impressive.

Plectrum for scale. Always fun to recieve a generously proportioned phallic object in the mail.

Huh, I might actually get that too if it's reasonable. I assume it wouldn't work for SMT parts? But for the price, if it just works on shrink wrap stuff, that's enough.

I can't say that it would work for SMT parts but it got hot quickly and seemed to put out plenty of heat so I'd say it might work. I think it's worth a try.

It's steel, so fairly heavy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275812219402

The one I'm playing with is a revival of a commission job I was working on for a luthier buddy before The Plague:

Very simple: Bax bass and mids, passive tone control for highs, the latter working in both active and bypassed modes.

Some fun things to do after a business trip. Basic relay on SMD, a Spaceman Orion, and a Lightspeed with dual gain mod.

What's the dual gain mod? Switch for more gain than stock? I just recently built a Lightspeed and am absolutely in love with it, that sounds cool too. Although tbh the pedal works just fine as it is - but more options is always more options.

It was a comment by Chuck in a thread where you change a cap and resistor in the first opamp feedback loop. Works pretty nicely, can still get the normal gain but now there’s more if you want. I need to dig into my board though because I’m getting oscillation.. that’s what I get for not being an EE!
