What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

My son has been taking guitar lessons for over a year but he still can’t play my guitars because he’s only 7 and he’s big, but not big enough. So I got him an Ibanez Mikro 3/4 size. It needs a setup and clean (second hand) but no fret work as far as I can see. The pickups are pretty decent as well, does the rock metal thing without mud!

I swapped it where his other guitar was. Let’s see how long until he notices.

The headstock is huge. I love it. It's a tiny shred machine!

is that a Dunlop nylon pick? I use those now, .60mm

Have you seen the Fender x Loog guitars?: https://www.fender.com/en-US/lifest...ter-3-string-childrens-guitar/9190021088.html

For those who don’t know Loog, it was a Kickstarter to build a 3 string guitar for kids. The idea was to simplify learning guitar, by having less strings to worry about (they can switch to 6 strings later). So, it’s mostly power chords, and simple chords (triads).

Now Fender did a collaboration with Loog, and created a Stratocaster and Telecaster shaped guitars for kids.

Maybe 7 is old enough for a 6 string. But if you see him struggling (specially with barred chords, or handling chords in general) a Loog guitar is a good introductory instrument, in my opinion.

He has had a 3/4 size classical guitar for a couple of years now. He just wants to play rock.

I don't see the benefit of the Loog unless they're 3-5 years old, you just learn on three strings on a 6 string. It's been working well for my son (when he practices).

Not really in the mailbox, but FB Marketplace for the win.

Solo MMK-10 for about half-off of what it would have been to buy directly with shipping.

4 piece mahogany body. 2 of which are noticable from the front, but I not staining it, so minor detail. Not sure what color I am going to paint it, but on the ride home, orange popped into my head. Might try to figure out a way to get Signal Corp orange as a tribute to my Army past.

Will definitely be getting a 2 band pre-EB preamp with a "mojo" LM4250 (because why not) to replace the passive VVT it has going at the moment. Of course, I will create a thread for the build.

This just showed up today. I LOVE IT!

I've been wanting a volume pedal for a while now (to get my prog rock on....hahah)

I was thinking about getting the EB VP Jr and doing the Zeppelin Labs mod kit that @PunchySunshine did to make usable heh.

But in the end I decided to just get the Morely 20/20 Volume. It's a great optical buffered volume pedal. Super smooth and so far I'm digging the taper.

It's also a wee little thing. I had no idea it was this small. 1590BB next to it for comparison.
