Showed up right before I left for work, will hopefully get to dick around with it this weekend

So, this thing's fuckin rad. Makes the Simplifier clone I recently got sound like a RadioShack toy. Can't say that it perfectly mimics any of its modelled sounds, but it's incredibly easy to get something goin with just the pre, power, and cab section with enough tweakability to sate most tone fiends.
Aaand, it actually feels like I'm plugged in and turned up. The added eqs and other sweeteners are 🤌🏻 and allow for a bit of post production polish

FWIW I build pedals on my computer desk so it might be a little different if you need to do a bunch of setup to start working, but what works for me is just dividing the task into very small pieces. "I'll just populate the resistors on these boards", and the caps, sockets and semiconductors is a simple step after that, and then I'll just cut the wires, might as well solder the wires in, and now I just need to solder in the footswitch and jacks.

I might take breaks between the steps too, but just starting the next small step feels easier than "I'll just finish and box this pedal".
I’m build in my desk too, everything is just sitting right here looking me in the eyes. I just gotta get motivated to do it.

I will usually build until I don’t have a part, then start something else until I don’t have what I need. When I have a big enough order, I’ll place it and wait to finish them.

Since I use UV prints on all my pedals, I usually figure out which ones I want to build next, then order the enclosures and all the necessary parts in one go. But tbh it does mean I end up with a bunch of extra parts, and I don't keep a good inventory of those, so I'm not claiming my system is any better.

Oh yeah, no. Every body is different. I’m just not as organized. I keep a healthy inventory, myself. I order what I need after instead of before. 🤣🤣🤣

I probably have just about everything on hand, i make a point of ordering way more of part x than i need to try to keep myself able to build most stuff if i decide i need to without having to order. My problem is i never out the shit away, so ive got boxes all over with misc parts. Half the time in building a pedal is the parts search. Then i can’t find it, order more then find the ones i had.

I have been on a tool buying bender. I saw the Starrett auto punches were on sale at Amazon so I picked up the big brother to my smaller Starrett auto punch.

That reminded me I’ve been wanting a Starrett combo set for a while. I was able to find a NOS set on EBay:

This one comes with the forged and hardened heads for working with metal (unlike the softer cast iron heads). I also found a great price on a compatible PEC metric blade with cosmetic blemishes.

I was up late one night looking at arbor presses and found one on AliExpress that was priced well, free shipping, and shipped from US. I threw a vise from the same company in the cart too. Less than a week later they showed up but on the day before I was refunded my entire amount because they did not ship fast enough?!

I was able to adapt the press to take a small chuck too. Going to be installing turrets in style now :)

This pile here I’ve been collecting for some projects around the house but also I need to make some head and speaker cabs:

Good call on the chuck.

I made a magnetic one for my press. I've used it a few times to hold small pin punches for pressing out small pins.

I saw a youtube video where they showed a setup like that. That’s slick for sure, but I was unsure about how fragile a magnet might be. I ended up just using a bolt, cut the head off, and then I drilled a hole so that the bit holder bolt holds it in place.

Good for you! I've googled that thing so many times and not bought it! I'll break down one of these days. Why the heck hasn't Behringer made one for $10 yet?!
Yeah, I've been trying to find a cheaper alternative too, especially for FET measurements, but it seems it's just not a thing. Been browsing the used market too but these don't pop up very often here in Germany and if they do the savings are barely worth the lack of warranty to me. So I just decided to say fuck it, pay full price, get the full package. Not like I'm going to be using this every day but to me it's still worth it in the long run.

Screw it. I just ordered one too.

I have that Bosch router or one very similar to it under my router table. It’s a workhorse.
