So...my dad used to be into karaoke and he got some gear like this thingy
I was thinking abt putting all my wet effects through it (keeley halo and EHX oceans, i know only two). I only have one amp but really want to use the halos stereo!
I tried it without pedals first just in case anything went boom lol. A lot of bass as to be expected. Fiddled around and plugged in the second PA speaker. I guess it sounded how you'd expect. I'm guessing the thing has a mic preamp and a solid state power section, which the back says is rated at 650W. I'm not sure how that would translate to tube wattage . Maybe like 300ishW?
Anyways, I pushed the -20db button on both mic inputs with their volumes low and panned them all the way left and right. Plugged into my pedal board (what i tested: kliche -> pro10 blue -> chop shop -> sushiboxfx particle accelerator -> EHX Oceans 11 reverb -> keeley halo). The halo is my only stereo pedal so i had that last. I fired it up and it actually sounded good!! To my ears, the karaoke thing along with the speakers were very neutral without pedals so i'd like to imagine it's like a high wattage power amp with EV speakers LOL. The particle accelerator really did its thing! Gave that fender flavor with the chop shop behind it for some grit. The halo sounded beautiful with its stereo spread! Just what i wanted!! The delay in the karaoke unit is not bad, sounds like pretty standard digital delay. But I turned up the repeats and kept the delay time super short so it acted like a little reverb.
Also, I couldn't feel any latency. So either the mic input to power amp part is all analog or it's digital processing is pretty ok!
Now I just need to make a splitter box so i can also plug into my blues jr. Hopefully i'm not too loud lol. Overall very happily surprised with this little experiment!
If you guys want me to try anything or have questions please ask!
