XC Phase Pop

I just finished boxing up my XC Phase, and it works perfect and sounds fantastic. However, when I switch between 4 stages and 2 stages I get a loud pop. Is this normal, or do I have a problem?

Seems to have been mentioned before, e.g., https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/phasers.8325/
I didn't see anyone posting a solution, but you might want to search a little more - including on other forums.

I wonder/speculate if an added ~1M pulldown resistor might be worth trying, to drain any stored charge (possibly at the point where the 2 added opamp stages are located, or...) - maybe try with clip wires first before soldering. Just a thought...

Thanks, this is helpful. I didn't see this thread when I posted this originally. Interesting though, most of the folks in that thread are complaining about a loud pop when the switch between block and script. I don't have that problem. The pop only happens when switching between 2 and 4 stages.

Have you tried turning it off & just switching the toggle back & forth a dozen times to see if it seats better.
Other than that, check the schematic to see which Ellectrolytic is before or after it that may be the issue?
It is common for toggle switch's to do this but if it's really loud popping. it is an issue.
No, I think it might just be a bum switch, but I might try that. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed about the pop when I first built it, but it sounds so good in the 4 stages mode, that I'll probably never throw that switch. Even if I do, I can just turn the pedal off -- throw the switch -- and turn it back on again. I decided it wasn't a big enough deal for me not to love this pedal.

if you have some Contact cleaner, squirt a couple of drops in the top of the switch while switching.
It's what I use when I have pedals that have been sitting idol for long periods of time & get a static noise when first switched on again.

I have some contact cleaner, but I don't know what I did with it. 🤣 It's probably behind a rack in my studio.
