Zapper w/expression control?

I've got the Zapper board and wondering if it could be wired up with an expression jack for the Frequency pot. Anyone tried that?

That could work. It’s not a voltage divider, so the value is important and will need to be considered.

I found an old post from @Chuck D. Bones and he said it wouldn't work. Or more accurately "risky". Sounds like it would be more complicated than not. I was watching the demo vids of the Triskelion version with the exp pedal, it sounds freaking awesome.

You could put a vactrol in place of the pot with a resistor in parallel with it to limit the dark value (what size would depend on the vactrol). Then you could set the frequency pot as a voltage divider on a switched jack to control the led side of the vactrol. Would accept expression control or CV via the expression jack. You’d probably want to also reduce r13 depending on the minimum/bright resistance of the vactrol

I guess I'd also need to consider what value pot is in my expression pedal. I have a Moog exp pedal, but I've never looked inside it.

There are reports of people doing this successfully with the MadBean Karate Shop.
I wouldn't be too worried about oscillation, if you're using decent cables between them

The EP2 and EP3 use a 50k pot
