What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

On the search for a tiny circuit to fill a little gap in my rack:

Just tested the El Sol :

What a nasty device!
It won't be a main-stay in my current set-up because I already use the Acid Rain which is more versatile, but El Sol could be super valuable in a more minimalistic rig. I'll be glad to add it to the SCHMORG reserve once I cut a real faceplate.

You're fast!

Im loving the look of that enclosure! Its actually pretty much the same design process as the older design! I know exactly how to go about this too. Im going to work on this right away! I think Critter Pedals make theirs similar in terms of the how the bottom plate contains the walls as well!

I know all you did was cut the enclosure in half but that gives me a visual representation of what this profile would look like with 125B dimensions and it looks fantastic! Thank you for this @temol Youre def making me go back to the drawing board!

@steviejr92 — Just make sure the break-angle @ bottom-front doesn't induce "wheelies" when you stomp on a footswitch. 😜

@dawson That wee empty spot in your Schmorg: what about a headphone amp? It would easily fit, and you could name it the ...

"Temporal Headphones Integrator of Gaussian Harmonics - Gaunt Amplification Protocol"

That's a mouthful, so just call it by its acronym?

I was thinking about that! Im trying to incorporate some of both designs into one, one without that angle there!

#1 method is to drill first, add paint later...

I realise that's not feasible with a pre-painted enclosure, but seriously — good question!
Yeah, when I find a pedal I love I am going to custom paint it myself so I can get the paint perfect but right now I find it easier and less expensive to buy the pre-painted ones from Tayda. This black one came out great and is very shiny.. just glad the decals and knobs will cover all the scratches.

Are you using a step bit?
I start with two regular bits and once the whole gets large enough I move to my step bit. I notice the tape pulls up when I pull all the bits out and there is already shavings under the tape.

Using tape might actually be the problem, getting the shavings caught under it. Try starting with a 1/16 or 3/32 and then go right to the step bit- it should be fine without any tape.

I'm just gonna ask because it took me a few builds before I realized. You know Tayda has predrilled enclosures for PedalPCB?
I did but didn't think they were painted? Or do you have to pay extra to have them drilled? I don't mind drilling them.. only takes about 30 minutes to get everything setup and drilled. I actually enjoy the process... these enclosures are very soft and the drill bits go through them like butter. I put a 2x8 over my trash can and drill on top of the open can so I can just dump the shavings right into the trash and brush off what's left on the board into the trash.

The pre-drilled PPCB ones come in different colors, but the colors are mentioned in the name (and description) only, the product images will be bare.

They cost like $1 extra compared to undrilled ones I think? Maybe $2 at worst?

You can also get custom drilling for $3.50, but obviously it's more expensive and then you need to fiddle around with the drill instructions, but it's handy if it's not a PPCB build and you hate drilling (like I do).

They are painted in any color you want. It's only about a dollar extra or something
