Snowed under

Just got in from shovelling. By the time we helped a few neighbours with their sidewalks ours looked like we had never done it. Taking a break and going back out later

In the hills of New Jersey I've got perhaps 12-14" so far with another 2-3" expected overnight. Very fluffy stuff, high today was just 19°F and the snow started overnight when it was about 8°. So it's quite beautiful here in the woods and hills. Fortunately no ice, and the power and internet have stayed on. But the winds are starting to pick up - forecast is for gusty 35mph winds overnight. So there's absolutely no reason to do any snow clearing until tomorrow, when the drifts have finally settled where they want to be.

We got around 5-6 inches total here in Louisville, KY. Thankfully power is still on. Was a balmy 21°F today, but supposed to drop to single digits the next couple of days. School is out Monday and Tuesday, at least. So far the hardest part has been keeping an 8mo old German Shepherd occupied. She loves the snow but hates going out by herself😑.

Pics or it didn’t happen.

The ice after the snow has already frozen solid 3 hours after dusk.
I can walk across the yard, a 190ish pound dude, and the toes of my boots never touch snow. It's like walking across a thinly frozen lake. Creaking and popping but never falling through.
Outages in the area are down to 191k from 220k. We'll see.
Wish I could fire my iron up.

Suburbs of Denver got just a dusting of super light snow, just enough to shovel. Stopped around 7:30pm, I went and shoveled around 8. Finishing and my neighbor comes out with his leaf blower….unorthodox but effective.

Here is Minneapolis this is the norm this time of year. Except this year we have an extra deadly form of ice called Schutzstaffel.
Every 80 years, like clockwork.
Everyone OK today? @jwin615, yall make it through the night?
Still no power. House was 40F this morning.
Still have water for now. Worried it freezes tonight if we don't get power back.
Still 170k in Nashville without power. The highest I saw was 220k.
I've spent the morning cooking on top of the wood stove for the fam and a few neighbors as well are running boiling water around so everyone can make coffee. Gonna make a big pot of chicken soup and run it around tonight. My neighbor Mark was a singer for The Kentucky Headhunters, but is in rough shape these days and can't leave the house. They have no power or heat so I'm trying to check in on them plenty. Had a big stash of hot hands that I took over with breakfast.
We're getting through it...

We got 18" or 287346 cm for metric friends. There's likely another storm this weekend as well. I'm trying to tune my snowblower for just a bit more power so I can shoot snow over the existing banks

I hope y'all stay safe out there. And please send that snow my way.

*stares at the mountains* (summer isn't going to be fun this year…)
