I had a good laugh today

An older teaser video on Instagram, showing the Scottish submarine parts of whatever: "Did you have doubts? Well, don't. While you're crying, we are going to sell out. These pedals will NEVER be produced again. Don't lose your exclusivity." 🥲

Anyway, that thing at the top, the rangemaster perhaps?

I've never understood people that talk about their products like that. Maybe I'm just not business-minded enough.

Sushi Box pedals are made by some dude and his wife in a messy basement while eating snacks and watching serial killer documentaries. The pedals are pretty good. Whatever.

I managed to fall on Jack Moore's facebook post on the subject of the pedal, where the larger AI picture of him and Aryan King is prominently pictured, yes, the one with Aryan and he inspecting the pedal while Aryan is simultaneously playing a 335 in the background.

I feel bad for all of the woo-hooers cheering him on in the comments. It feels a bit like grift to me, and a bit heinous due to the fact that he's invoking his dead dad.

I'm in two camps on this one:

1 - everything is fake and it's easier for people to believe the lie
2 - no one applies critical thinking to anything because they're just too
2a - stupid
2b - good natured

Under "Step 4: Writing the Code" they describe how there is DSP on board the pedal. But where is it?
I was under the impression that this was to "model" the pads via hardware.
Basically, build an eq curve with resonance/phase shift. Aka. cap on a switch. Though, should there not be 2 caps on 2 poles at different gain stages to induce a 180° phase shift? Would have to look at the full schem. Don't remember exactly how it was implemented.

They are counting on that "there is a sucker born every minute", but who knows if those replies are real people.

It sounds like Jack is either in on it, or is a gullible mark.

The Alexey and Jack friendship origin stories are a bit fishy in that they start in a similar way... Chance meeting, beer, back to the apt, (sex🤣)

And "the right engineer" in one story, is called Alex(who writes the dsp code) in the other, so sounds like a grifter circle jerk

#1: regarding the Australian cost of living tangent: it's hard to feel pity for you with your unlimited shrimps and barbies. If things aren't working, try making them out of shrimps and barbies?
You make a very fair point! As much as stuff costs here - and living here ain't cheap, esp if you rent - I would much rather live here.

But do i really need to say this again... Nobody calls them shrimps in Australia. They're prawns. There's even a famous expression here: Don't come the raw prawn with me, mate. (Don't try bullshitting/be a dick/talk crap, etc, buddy)
