El Sol missing caps?

I built the El Sol and it sounds killer! However, I've noticed that in between palm muted notes the effect has a strange compression like sound, like of the 386 amps is trying to catch up with the other....not sure how to explain, but it does sound different than a typical Acapulco Gold. I found this gut shot and also noticed there are 3 film caps around the 386's that aren't there in any schematic I've looked at. Wondering if these caps missing on the El Sol have anything to do with this weird sound I'm getting?

What 386 are you using? I would first attribute the weird compression sound to those. LM386N-4 seems to work well.

Edit: The JRC386D would probably be the best if you can get those.

They haven't always been there. I suspect some of those are 100nF power supply filtering caps and not actually part of the signal path.
