I've seen a few Harmonys in stores and played them a bit - I'm quite impressed with what you get for the price. Just curious if anyone here has any longer term experience with one and what sort of music you have played with them. Anyone?
Haha! I used to find music stores to be like that but these days less and less so. I have about 6 guitars and don't generally see anything in a store I like better than those. Amps? I build my own and like them a whole lot more than most of the amps I see in stores. And now effects like overdrive and fuzz I can make better than most things I can buy. I do still buy stuff but it's rare - I bought a beautiful brand new USA Epiphone Casino earlier this year locally because it's very rare and I have long wanted a great USA Casino. And it's turned out to be an even better guitar than I anticipated.
But I'm curious about the Harmonys because here they seem to be good value and well made, and sound good and unlike the usual suspects. I wonder how their prices compare with the old ones allowing for inflation etc? Because if you look at how much Fenders and Gibsons cost way back when they were not cheap guitars! And the modern Harmony guitars seem better built than they used to be.
I can’t speak on the newer Harmony, but this one has done me pretty good for the past 30 years. (First guitar) It has had to have hardware and electronics replaced over the years but as it sits today I think it holds it own with any Gibson for playability and tone …but I might be bias
They're definitely some cool looking guitars but I agree with @Coda , the prices on them are incongruous with the brand. I haven't look very closely at them pretty much for that reason.
