I opened mine to see what's inside, and it's all SMD. The foam padding stuff stuck to the E-caps, but I'm sure I could clean them up if needed.

For some reason, I was thinking there's be a lot more going on under the hood. But, I'm pretty sure that could be a 125b build even through-hole

Agreed. And I think the two sections are separate anyway, distortion and ring-mod, so just the ring-mod would require less space.

Just looked at the schematic again... I'd always heard it was a Grunge circuit in the dirt slot, but that's literally just the clipping section- it doesn't have all the fancy gyrators.

Just the Ring Mod portion would be awesome. Maybe an FX-loopable clean blend

IMO the distortion is a pretty essential part of the ring mod's character, but any ring mod is better than no ring mod

You can always breadboard this simple Tim Escobeto circuit. I made one years ago with a bunch of mods that gave me two frequency controls and a wet dry mix. Fun to play around with.

I need to work up an Escobedo Thing Mod, and other Escobedo bits, but even if I do I'll still want some Gonk action, cause I'm a WORM.

Added an extra control and a dry mix. The cap switch at the end was for noise, which I think I leave on most of the time. Here's a demo I did years ago.

hahaha I dont know what I hear in that song now. It definitely sounds like "donkey bar". Klaus might be the most hilariously misunderstood frontman in the history of rock n roll. That being said the world needs Klaus and The Scorpions now more than ever. And we here at PPCB forum need more GONK. There is a severe lack of GONKulation. So lets all "follow the Moskva down to GONKy Park"
