How close is the Monarch (Viceroy) to the Benson?

Was checking out those mini orange amps and stumbled onto the Monarch by EQD, now we have it here via the Viceroy.
If anyone has built it yet how similar does it sound to the Son of Benson? From the YouTubes it sounds more beefy in the low end.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I still need to build the Viceroy... I've built a Monarch with the Boneyard suggestions to fix the bugs in the original circuit... but stopped at the "why stop there" that led down the rabbit hole to the Viceroy...

Different circuit entirely. Benson preamp is cascaded JFET stages, Monarch is a MOSFET pushing a JFET mu amp.
The Mosfets explain that tasty low end beefy ness I keep hearing in demos. Thanks. Going to have to build one now. 👍🏼

Build them both, then you can have them as close or as far apart on your pedalboard as you want.

Closest together would be a two-in-one pedal.

Useless post here, move on, thread question answered in post #5, nothing to read here, move along...
