Believe it or not, I saw them live in Cape Town many lunar cycles ago. They played 'You ain't goin' nowhere,' among others, so this might be '69 or '70. They were hugely influential on me when I was growing up (restrain yourselves please, colleagues) and this gig, despite its scrappiness and McGuinn's complaints of 'flu, remains a historic moment in my life.
We had some notable groups come through before the cultural boycott really kicked in, one such called Chase, a kind of Chicago/BS&T clone with four trumpets if I recall. Very sadly, they were all killed in a plane crash, I believe.
