Ha! They're often mistaken for owls, apparently. They sleep through the day imitating bit of tree branch so can be very hard to spot.

I was born in Boronia. I first lived in Orchid Ave, near the train station. When I was a kid there was a paddock across the road with ponies in it and at the end of the street was an orchard. Now it's a school footy ground and the ponies have been replaced by massive wheelie bins and air cond ducts for Safeways/Woolies. Our house is now a big block of units. I have vague memories of Puffing Billy!

Can someone translate that to American English?

"I was born in Boronia (a suburb of Mebourne about 20 miles east of the city). I first lived in Orchid Ave (a street), near the train station (station where you can catch and disembark trains. A bit like a subway but not under the ground). When I was a kid (small person) there was a paddock (field) across the road with ponies (small horsies) in it and at the end of the street was an orchard (kind of farm full of fruit trees. Fruit is a kind of food other countries have). Now it's a school footy ground (like a field with school-age football players instead of ponies) and the ponies have been replaced by massive wheelie bins (trash bins with wheels on them. A poor substitute for ponies) and air cond ducts (noisy ventilation things designed to annoy anyone nearby with loud whooshing sounds) for Safeways/Woolies (supermarket chains generally despised by Australians but still used because they tend to be a monopoly). Our house (like an apartment but separate from other apartments and generally lived in by just one family) is now a big block of units (Apartments). I have vague memories of Puffing Billy! (a steam train like you see in western movies, run mainly for tourists and fans of obsolete forms of transport)"

I've been to America quite a few times. I speak the language. Dude.
