thicc leads

Here's a potentially dumb question. I got some germanium diodes that have super thick leads and won't fit into sockets. I was planning on just filing them down to thinner legs, any better solutions?

Are you just auditioning diodes? If so I’d just wrap a skinny lead around the legs of the diode and test it that way. If you’re set on using those diodes ditch the socket.

Through-hole Thick & Thin

Solder some skinny leads to the tips of the thick (basically Nostradoomus' solution but with solder).

Have you played around with these diodes any more over the weekend? Pics?
