CONTEST Tube Screaming Tuesdays

CONTEST
YATS content for next Tuesday's (Nov 15, 2022) entry queue . . . . the "Green Meanie" . . . .
(Most expensive TS I've ever built.)

Green Meanie gutshot . . . .

THe 6-way clipping daughterboard with an LM313H Reference dual-diode, a pair of MA856/1S1588 diodes, 3mm dual-2-pin LED (R&G), 5mm dual-2-pin LED (G&B), Nanolog N2 and a Nanolog N3.
Cool! Is this like the JHS Bonsai? Where'd you get the boards?

No idea if it's like the JHS Bonsai. The main board is PedalPCB "Little Green Scream Machine". The switching daughterboard is from SmallBear, as is the oddball 6-way rotary switch. The get the daughterboard, have a look at the SmallBear page for that 6-way rotary switch. At the bottom of that page, there's a link to OSHPark for ordering those small array PCBs.

Cool.. thanks! This might be outside my skill level right now but I will be working to figure out how to do it.

Never heard of it until now. So are they worth it?
IMO . . . . "Worth it" is a personally subjective assessment. There is an audibly detectable difference. And tho the question remains, only you could really answer that question after hearing it live. So much subtle nuance gets lost in internet compression schemes for audio/video demos. The NanoLog devices present a subtlety, warm nuance to the clipping.

I listened to demos and could not hear the real distinctions until I got one and tried it out. After I did, I considered $15 apiece 'worth it' for this build. And because the LM313H as a clipping element was so intriguing, I thought throw 25 zorkmids at a couple of those to hear what they 'sound' like.

I am intrigued. Going to order a couple of the nanologs next time I restock.

Okay - so this one is so hot off the press I haven't finished the build report yet (hopefully tomorrow)... but until then, in honor of TS Tuesday...

TS10 clone on the Tone Geek board:

... and the enclosure - with more art from my lovely and talented wife. I wanted a velociraptor, and current best research indicates that they're feathered. She thought it would be fun to do the feather color pattern like a bald eagle, and we sort of went crazy from there...

OK then... I didn't win again !!!!

For my third entry, I submit a combo based on a RainCoat and a Frost drive. Turned out to be a very good combo, thanks @jjjimi84 for supporting me in selecting the combo pairing. The pedal includes an order switch and a dual color led (red/green) that matches the led color of which pedal comes first. It was built for a friend who gigs and was never a fan of pedals. He recently confirmed that this pedal is never leaving his amp and is his go to pedal for pretty much every tone he covets.

Starting in 1989, I used to travel to Houston frequently for manufacturer update training on testing equipment purchases. It was always the same small group of people so we got to know each other and had a bit of fun with it. Two trips I distinctly recall are the first;
While there the Loma Prieta earthquake happened. The test equipment we were training on actually recorded "ripples" because one of the data points being collected was the liquid level inside a horizontal underground steel tank.
The second notable trip (and coincidently our last) also involved nature being naughty;
1998 tropical storm Frances was headed straight for Galveston. The training had been cancelled so we rode down to..yup, Galveston. I'll try to find the polaroid of me being swallowed by a wave that crashed over the seawall / parking area. We left as the water was starting to cross the road to the bridge out. (y)

Sorry..boring old dude story...😴
I love old man stories! Why don’t we have a thread for them?
I can't do a YATS thread without showing off my own :oops:

This looks familiar! I think it needs a good paint job, any ideas?
