What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

I’ve made some progress on a few of the latest pcbs that came a couple weeks ago.
I’ve got the boards populated and soldered with resistors, capacitors, and diodes on the Mahayana, Mach 1, and Dream Fuzz.

The other three, Van Pelt, Lowballer, and Son of Ben, resistors and diodes are soldered, but the caps are just populated.

For the Son Of Ben I decided to put C10 on a On/Off/On DPDT switch with the choice of 4.7u and 10u, so I got the switch soldered up. I’ll get it wired to the board once I get the enclosure drilled and decide where to put the switch.

It’s been a busy few weeks at work, so I’m hoping to get them all soldered up this week and then start getting graphics and enclosures going. IMG_4239.jpeg IMG_4241.jpeg IMG_4240.jpeg IMG_4242.jpeg

No 1N4004 diodes on hand so I can use a 1N4007, right?
The only difference is the 1N4007 is rated for much higher voltage. I don't think I'll ever pump more than 400V into this but better safe than sorry lol.

I saw a Pink Blue fuzz on sale locally for 400€ and thought "what the fuck I just built one, why is it so expensive used!? I don't think they should be so sought after like KoT or old Muffs or whatever" but then I also saw that no, they just literally cost 400€ new too.

We did not keep any of it. I had pictures but don’t think I still have those.
 
While there may not be anything to discover, it doesn't much stop me from being compelled to buy something just because it is aesthetically pleasant.

In yet another case of not looking at any measuring scale to know what to expect, I am floored by the size of a Tung-Sol 6977 VFD tube.

I guess I expected the size of a 6418, this is half of that. ( Anyone want any 6418s? I have dozens. You should see what happens if you accidentally send 9 volts up the filament )

Datasheet suggests amplification factor of 30.

No instructions, no build guide, no diy forum threads ( although I'm sure they exist ) just fock around and find out.
