After putting some tomastik jazz flats on my yazz telecaster (Charlie Christian neck pu) I realized I have flats on everything but my bari.

Update: Why? Why haven't I been using these for decades??? So many misspent years.... I haven't even plugged it in yet and I'm all in.

I played flatwounds on my bass for years until I was introduced to LaBella tapewounds. Everything I love about flats combined with everything I love about rounds. Love LaBella's stuff (also the people at their NAMM booth last year were all super nice).

Picked up this non-functioning working(!) Russian small stone for $50. Looking forward to checking it out.

It works just fine now after a little solder reflowing and sounds nice and warm!

No problem. I have no other cc to compare with but it is warm and lovely. Quite the opposite from the lollar in the bridge.

Them bezos neck shims, thanks for the heads up on those @MichaelW. I figured I'm already up to some nonsense with my frankenbass project so I bought the most ridiculous pickguard material I could find. A lil conductive paint for the wounds I plan to inflict upon the T40 and a tesi arcade kill switch.

How would you say they compare to half-rounds? I used a set of flats for about 10 years in one band, but then decided on half rounds to be a little more versatile.

I've never tried half rounds, but I'd imagine similar sound, different feel. The tapewounds are silky smooth like flatwounds, but they have a brighter sound, in between rounds and flats. My problem was always that rounds were too bright, and brand new flats were great, but over time they started to get too dark sounding for me. Tapewounds turned out to be exactly what my ears were looking for.
