Anyone getting sick of my "Tele-scapades" yet?....
So this pretty much an unplanned purchase. When I was putting together my
Candy Apple Red 60's style Tele I got pretty disgusted at one point with the out of spec neck pocket and was seriously considering scrapping that body and starting over. I was browsing Ebay and looking at the MJT (Mark Jenny) nitrocellulose finished bodies and this one caught my eye. (I've been wanting a Seafoam Green tele for many years to match the color of the hull of my flats skiff, which is Seafoam green). I wasn't really serious about buying it but I threw what I thought was a pretty low ball bid on it........and won the auction! I got this for a bit over $200. With tax and shipping it came out to ~$240.
Mark uses mostly USACG bodies and finishes them in nitro and does all the aging. I'm not a big fan of heavily relic'd bodies as most of them look ridiculously fake to me. But lightly aged really floats my "boat". (Ha see what I did there?

)
So I'm not really sure what to do with this body. I'm leaning towards re-building Red tele with this body. Although right now that Tele is playing perfectly, I still have a sour taste from the experience. And I'm not completely happy with my "aging" of the finish. It was a bit of an experiment to begin with to see if I could convincingly age a polyurethane body. I might wind up using that body with the extra neck I have to test pickups.
Oh, here's a picture of my boat the day I brought it home. (It's a bit dirtier than that now hahaha)
