A pretty minty and, more importantly, unmodified Killer Ant showed up just in time for Father's Day. I plan on going through this one as there's plenty of room for improvement without carving it up with extra knobs or switches.

Just came in the mail today. Forty genuine, NOS, Panasonic/Matsushita MN3007 BBD chips for the "RMS X100" builds we're doing. All tested and perfect!
Just under 10 zorkmids each with shipping.

Nice! I have a Little Giant combo. I think these are quite underrated given the price point and the modding possibilities!

It's sitting on top of my LG, each with a matching 10" cabinet. I kind of wanted to get back into working on amps so I figured this was a good jumping off point.

I nearly bought a Little Giant combo at last year's local guitar-show. I feel I should've, but at the same time I've got some other builds to deal with/spend money on... Then again, for the price I couldn't buy all the bits in that little combo individually for the same price.

I have one coming from China from a shady vendor for my Karaoke Chorus build.

100x 3AX31C PNP germaniums from China. Some FF and MKI candidates in there but many of them are throwaways. Some have a gain of 4 LOL! Some read as diodes or double diodes. My TC1 be going crazy.

Interesting package for the 3AX31C, it looks like a black paint or powder coat? The ones that I got were more of a tarnished silver. What was the breakdown between good and bad transistors?

I've only tested about 20 so far and 8 or so are useless, the other ones vary wildly from hFE 50 to almost 200 and leakage too, from super low to 1mA. Hopefully the few with good numbers sound good

New set iron for PCB transfers. All solid stainless steel, none of those pesky steam holes o. The bottom. It worked great on the one I’ve done so far.

The one from China will in high likelihood be a fake. However, British Audio on Reverb has the real MN3007 BBDs @ ~15 bux a pop.

If you want a lot of ten, they are only about 10 bux each.

If they're fake I can take it on the chin since I bought two for the equivalent of 10 bucks total.

I remember stumbling onto DIY Pedal Gear Part's Reverb page a few months back. They're based in Italy, but haven't bought any MN3007s from them yet. I'd curious to know if anyone else has tried ordering from them.

Italy is better. It's in Europe and I get to support my fellow countrymen and countrywomen. However there's no way I'm spending 17 euros on a chip. I'll exhaust other options first.
