Zvex Fuzz Factory

Hey folks!! Just finished up my first build, the Deflector and it went super smooth! Now I’m ready to build a fuzz pedal.

Can anyone recommend a fuzz that is close to the Zvex Fuzz Factory?? Neil’s Cline uses one and I absolutely dig it and his tone is superb. I’ve been using the Caline Pure Sky for a while. It’s nice, but I need more grit and fuzz now.

What about the Buggfx Raincoat? Have you tried that one?

I’m not sure I’m ready to mess around with germanium transistors yet. I know they have that old-school fuzz but I’m a little unsure about matching them etc. Read somewhere that they’re harder to work with

You can sub the GE transistors out with 2n3906s if you’re not willing to do germanium. Sounds great, and an easy build. little point in going for the deluxe in that case since you wouldn’t have anything from the si/ge switch, but the standard fuzz foundry would be a great candidate to use silicon transistors for.
Otherwise you could build the deluxe, and leave the germanium transistors out and just keep the toggle in the silicon position until you eventually find a germanium pair you like.

If that is anything like a Fuzz Face you can buy matched sets for it, drop them in and bias or in this case turn the knobs.
